Your Questions About Denver Men’s Therapy Answered

Whether you’re seeking trauma therapy, couples therapy or general therapy for men,
our team is here to support you. Here are a few of our frequently answered questions about Denver Men’s Therapy.

How much does therapy cost?

How much does therapy cost?
Our fees depend on the therapist’s licensure and advanced training. Most clients choose a tier based on the level of specialization they want and what fits their budget.
Our rates vary by provider and service.
Current rate tier:

  • Group Therapy: $70 per group

  • Pre-licensed Therapist (Individual): $120 per session

  • Licensed Therapist (Individual): $150 per session

  • Licensed Therapist with Advanced Training (Individual): $180 per session

  • Stephen Rodgers, LCSW – EMDR Approved Consultant (Individual): $225 per session

Our fees reflect the level of training and focus on men’s mental health, while keeping care as accessible as we can for a specialty practice.

Adjusted fees
We have limited openings for adjusted fees. Please call 720-295-4233 to ask about availability and the cost for a specific therapist or service.

Do you take insurance?

We’re an out-of-network (self-pay) practice, which means we don’t bill insurance directly. You pay at the time of your session, and if you have out-of-network benefits, you can choose to seek reimbursement afterward.

Why we stay out of network
Many clients prefer self-pay because it offers:

  • More choice and better fit: You pick your therapist based on specialty, experience, and connection—not a narrow network list.
  • Fewer restrictions: Insurance can require additional administrative steps that don’t always match what’s clinically best.
  • More privacy control: When insurance is used, a diagnosis and claim information are typically shared with the insurer and stored in your insurance records.

How reimbursement works (if you want to use your benefits)
We can provide a superbill (a detailed receipt) for you to submit to your insurance company. Reimbursement varies by plan and may depend on your deductible and out-of-network coverage.

Use Mentaya to check your benefits
We partner with Mentaya to help you check out-of-network eligibility and understand potential reimbursement. Use the tool below to see if your plan may reimburse for therapy.

HSA/FSA
Many clients also use HSA/FSA funds for therapy, depending on their plan rules.

Check your out-of-network benefits

If you’d like to use your insurance benefits, you can estimate potential reimbursement here. We’ll still be self-pay at the time of session, and you can submit for reimbursement afterward.

Who do you accept as clients?

We specialize in providing therapy services for adult and adolescent males. We also work with their loved ones or women who want to work with a male therapist. Our focus on men comes from an understanding that men often experience and express mental health challenges differently. Conditions like depression may not look the same in men as in women. We believe therapy is about taking action and seeking help takes strength and courage. Men come from wide and diverse backgrounds and experiences. We aim to provide a space where all men feel understood and supported in their mental health journey.

What happens when I reach out to Denver Men’s Therapy?

What is a good faith estimate?

By law, patients who don’t have insurance or are not using insurance have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much their medical care will cost. You can receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your healthcare provider and any other provider you choose for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For more, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

What’s your cancellation policy?

Our cancellation policy is designed to respect the time of our therapists and you, the patient. For appointments between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., we require 24-hour notice for cancellations to avoid being charged the full appointment fee. For appointments between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., we require 48-hour notice to avoid being charged the full appointment fee.

If you can reschedule the appointment within the same week, subject to the therapist’s availability, we are happy to waive the cancellation fee.

Clients are responsible for payment of any cancellation fees. Cancellation fees are 100% of the session fee.

How do I choose a therapist?

Our team members are highly qualified and experienced therapists, but not every good therapist is the right fit for you. We take great care in connecting you with a therapist you can connect with and who can best meet your needs.

To help facilitate this, we offer a therapist match survey on our website. It’s designed to understand your preferences, therapy goals, and needs. Based on your responses, we’ll recommend a therapist from our team whose expertise and approach best align with what you’re looking for. Complete the therapist match survey now. You can also call 720-295-4233 for a free consultation call with our Client Care Coordinator.

How do I know what type of therapy is right for me?

We offer specialized therapy for members of the GBQT+ community, addiction-focused therapy, and EMDR, to name a few. Your therapist can help you work through what type of therapy approach makes the most sense for your unique situation. Start by exploring our services page and see what connects.

Do I meet my therapist in person or online?

We offer both in-person and teletherapy visits. In-person visits happen at one of our two Denver office locations; teletherapy happens 100% online. Learn more about how we do teletherapy.
